Speed World Cup, Lecco: Olesky and Saoulevitch victorious
Tomasz Olesky and Anna Saoulevitch win the fourth stage of the Speed World Cup 2003 in Lecco
| Lecco, Monday 23 June 2003. Climbing against the clock, and faster than your adversary, is without a doubt a thrilling spectacle, even to the untrained eye. He who climbs fastest, and reaches the top first, wins. It's that simple. And enthralling. The first competition this week in Lecco proved to be just this, when the world's fastest competed in the fourth stage of the Speed World Cup. Last night Piazza Cermenati, the focal point for this week's activities, transformed into a beautiful stadium as crowds gathered to enjoy the spectacle. And what a spectacle! in the men's event the multi-talented Tomasz Oleksy from Poland took first place - no doubt someone to watch out for in the bouldering event the day after tomorrow! Alexandre Chaoulsky from Russia placed second, while ukranian Maxim Stenkovoi placed third, ahead of Russian Marat Sadyrov. The women's event was won by Anna Saoulevitch (RUS), followed by Olga Zakharova (UKR) and Valentina Yurina (UKR). ![]() Photo Giulio Malfer Next World Cup event in Lecco: Women's bouldering, Wednesday 25 June
