The fourth Trofeo Latemar Vertical Kilometer will be held in Predazzo, Italy on Sunday 26 August 2001. This international skyrunning competition, officially recognised by the FSA (Federation for Sport at Altitude), is held in high regard due to both its technical difficulties and its natural beauty.

The race circuit is identical to that of previous years: starting at 1670m at Rifugio Baita Gardonè, it reaches a maximum altitude of 2670m at Rifugio Torre di Pisa with a total height gain of 1000m spread out over its 3.3 km.

Last year’s winner Antonella Confortola set a new course record of 41’19”, while Pio Tommaselli failed to beat the 36’23” established by him in 1998.

The competition starts at 10.00 at Gradonè, which can be reached easily via cable car from Predazzo.
