The first-ever Ski Mountaineering World Championship will take place in Serre Chevallier, France on 25-27 January.

Poor snow conditions have forced the organisers to change the courses slightly, but these still clock in an impressive 2000m height gain stretched out over a maximum of 13 km. The competition is divided into three categories, including the Senior Team, the Senior Individual and the Junior race and various nations are expected to take part in all three events.
