For the first time ever a turnpoint on Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia. But also, and perhaps above all, for the first time Switzerland is bypassed almost completely… it’s worth noting that this is where the four-times winner, incredible Christian Maurer, comes from. These are only two of the most important novelties of Red Bull X-Alps, the competition that every two years crosses the Alps by paraglider or on foot. All the way from Salzburg in Austria to a tiny raft off the coast of the Principality of Monaco

Ever since 2003 when the first edition took place this competition has emerged into the world’s toughest adventure race, and once again the challenge that lies in store for the 32 athletes in enormous. Take, for instance, the fact that the route is new and also the longest it’s ever been: 1,138 km in a straight line. In 2005 Maurer won after 8 days, 4 hours and 37 minutes of flying and… running. A gruelling battle, worth watching as it unfolds minute by minute. Stay tuned!
