Anticipation reached fever pitch yesterday as, after the long winter break, the Bouldering World Cup 2016 finally kicked off at Meiringen Switzerland with the all-important qualifications. A staggering 59 female athletes and 83 male athletes competed in the mammoth first round, which paved the way to this morning’s Semi-Finals that begin at 11 and then, at 18:30, the Finals. Both will be streamed live. The major upset is that two of the biggest players of all times, Dimitri Sharafutdinov and Anna Stöhr, both failed to make the cut and qualify for the top 20, dashing all chances of early points.
