Bouldering World Cup 2001, Munich, the results
Chris Sharma and Sandrine Levet win last weekend’s third stage of the Bouldering World Cup in Munich
| Chris Sharma and Sandrine Levet won last weekends third stage of the Bouldering World Cup in Munich. Womens event Levet, who now more than ever leads the provisional world cup ranking, dominated the event by climbing all 5 Final problems. Needing just 9 attempts, she saw off her compatriot Myriam Motteau who placed second (4 tops, 7 attempts needed), ahead of the Russian Elena Choumilova (3 tops). Mens event After onsighting 4 problems in the qualification round Andrada, Tuscan and Golob all placed provisional joint first, ahead of the crowd idol Chris Sharma. Highly determined and in a great mood after having just completed his fantastic ascent of Biographie, he placed provisional 8th before the Final. The Final proved to be a completely different ball game though with 5 extremely difficult boulder problems. Sharma dominated completely, onisghting 3 of the problems and only just failing to climb the other two. Andrada placed second (3 tops, 4 attempts and one zone less), while the increasingly to be reckoned with Tomaz Olesky placed third. Seeing the roller-coaster ride of fortunes in the various stages, the overall final victory is still completely undecided.
