![]() Arvier 6/04/2003. The 9th Tour du Rutor was dominated by the French. The classic international ski mountaineering race was won by the duo Patrick Blanc and Toni Sbalbi, vice world champions and winners of the Pierra Menta 2003, and the world champions Valérie Ducognon and Delphine Oggeri. The competition fielded 150 strong teams - a record for this event - in ideal conditions, enabling the route setters to create a demanding and technical course which alternated between steep ski ascents, exposed crests and sections on foot. Blanc and Sbalbi took the lead right from the outset and finished in just 2 hours 3840, 149 faster than their compatriots Meilleur and Tomio and 228 faster than Brosse and Gignoux. The women's event was led by Arianna Follis and Chiara Raso until the final 2000m descent to Planaval, where they were overtaken by Ducognon-Oggeri, who finished in 3 hours 3343, 354 faster than Follis-Raso and 648 faster than Corinne Favre and Carole Toigo. |
