Video: Jakob Schubert making first ascent of B.I.G. (9c) at Flatanger

Watch Jakob Schubert make the September 2023 first ascent of 'B.I.G.', his 9c at Flatanger in Norway.

On 20 September 2023 Jakob Schubert made the first ascent of B.I.G. in Flatanger, Norway. Originally bolted by Adam Ondra and formerly known as Project Big, the route remained an open project for over a decade. After working it together in 2022, the Austrian returned the following year to free the line which he graded 9c - only the third in the world at the time after Silence at Flatanger and DNA in the Verdon Gorge.

Schubert live streamed his attempts and the ensuing award-winning film documents this journey — capturing not only the ascent itself, but also the mental side of pushing his limits on a route that once felt nearly impossible.
