Susi Knabl was a devoted member of the International Federation of Sport Climbing and held important roles in the IFSC: she was part of the federation’s Executive Board, Vice-President for Sport/Events and a member of the Officials Commission. But perhaps more importantly for those who have ever taken part in a climbing competition during the last two decades, Knabl could often be seen on the actual parterre, serving as Jury president for IFSC World Cups, the Arco Rock Master and countless other climbing competitions.

Knabl's involvement with the climbing scene was obviously not only on an international level and while serving these roles - and running the famous Imst climbing wall - she was instrumental in instructing referees through the Austrian Climbing Federation, of which she was an active member for over two decades.

Marco Scolaris, President of the IFSC, issued a statement saying “Yesterday, we lost a beloved member of the climbing community. Susi positively impacted the IFSC and Sport Climbing. She is dearly missed, and our thoughts and support go out to Helmut and the entire Knabl family.”
