Despite the intense cold and the icicles hanging on the route nearby, two days ago Stefano Ghisolfi made the first repeat of the 9a+ Bombardino at Bus de La Stria (Hotel Olivo) in Arco, Italy.

Bombardino was freed by Adam Ondra in February this year, as a side project to his Bomba. Where Bomba proceeds straight up into the main difficulties, Bombardino continues to traverse diagonally rightwards before finishing with a tricky crux a few meters from the top.

Ghisolfi sent this 9a+ after three days of efforts while his climbing partner Giovanni Placci, despite the arctic conditions, got close to the send, too. Knowing Ghisolfi, he'll already have his sights on Bomba which Ondra had first ascended shortly after Bombardino. Graded 9b, it is currently the most difficult of the crag and one of the hardest in the Arco area.
