We mentioned it this summer: in June Caroline Ciavaldini and James Pearson travelled to South Africa's Rocklands for a bit of bouldering but above to do what few had done before them: climb routes with a rope, helmet, nuts and friends. Acting on a hunch of Jacopo Larcher and Michele Caminati, Ciavaldini and Pearson made the first ascent of a myriad of beautiful new lines and returned with the utter conviction that the potential for new trad climbs at Rocklands is practically unlimited.
