Pirmin Bertle climbs first 9a in Bolivia

Pirmin Bertle continues to deliver the goods in South America. After establishing the 9a  Azul es el cielo de los ciegos at Piedra Parada in Patagonian Argentina in 2016 and Ruta de Cobre at Socaire at nearly 3600 meters in Chile's Atacama desert in mid-2017, the 32-year old has now made the first ascent of En este luz te ves como Poseidon in Bolivia. Located at El Eden near Potosì, "In this light you look like Poseidon" was freed after a mere 10 attempts shortly before the end of his five-month family trip to South America.

Bertle explained "The route consists of about 25 hard moves with only one moderate rest point before the red point crux." This means 7C+ boulder followed by an 8A+ boulder that lead to the 7B+ finale, all of which an altitude of nearly 4000m. "No need to try to explain how the height of 3900m feels in something like this, as no one, who hasn’t felt this with their own lungs, can possibly imagine."
