Czech climber Pepa Šindel is going from strength to strength. The talented 15-year-old has had a remarkable first half of the year, redpointing the 9a Hypoxia extension 9a in Slovakia and, more recently, Sever The Wicked Hand in Frankenjura, Germany. Located at Hängender Stein, this fierce 9a was established by Frankenjura local Markus Bock in 2011.

Šindel first tried the route in a year ago but the 8A bouldery crux at the start proved too difficult at the time. He returned this July and after two days of sweltering temperatures - read 33°C - conditions improved enough for his redpoint after 16 attempts in total.

Šindel sent his first 8c aged 13 and last November he repeated his first 9a+, Chiroptera at Brada Súľov in Slovakia.
