Monte Gallo (Palermo) Pizzo della Sella, via Vento d'estate (290m, 6c, 05/2010 Max Flaccavento, Giorgio Iurato)
Max Flaccavento
The immense Monte Gallo high above Palermo in Sicily is slowly but surely coming of age, with a series of interesting new routes being added each spring and autumn. The latest addition comes from the two Sicilians Massimo Flaccavento and Giorgio Iurato who once again have forged a new route up this beautiful mountain, giving birth to their Vento d'estate - summer breeze. Although the difficulties are not extreme - max 6c - the route has an alpine feel and the panorama - high above the nature reserve and Palermo, is truly outstanding.
