Manolo dices Diabloluna 8c at Fonzaso
Maurizio "Manolo" Zanolla has managed to redpoint "Diaboluna" 8c at Fonzaso, N. Italy.
![]() Climbing... or the elixir of life? At the start 2006 we reported about the 8c+ climbed by 12-year old Adam Ondra. After this startling performance by the child prodigy on 'Alien Carnage' at Castillon we now report of another ascent, much older agewise but none the less interesting: making the most of ideal winter conditions 47-year old Maurizio "Manolo" Zanolla has managed to redpoint "Diaboluna" at Fonzaso, N. Italy. The route in question had been sent by Cocco, Riccardo Scarian and Luca Zardini and was cosidered a soft-touch 8c until now. Manolo, who is clearly back on form after knee surgery, explained the following:"three important holds have broken off since the first ascent and I reckon the 8c grade is now certain... that's what I think but, given my age, I have trouble grading routes." So, as usual, it's up to potential repeaters to confirm the grade?
