After sending her first 8c in Germany’s Frankenjura in June this year - Klondike Cat at the Bärenschluchtwänden -Lena Herrmann has now doubled her takings with her repeat of Father and son 8c at Trockauer Wand in the Püttlachtal. It was first ascentionist Markus Bock who recommended his 2011 creation and after just three days Herrmann managed to clip the anchor.

As mentioned in our June news report, although 8c may not sound cutting-edge by today’s standards, very few women have managed to climb 8c / 11-. These include Germany’s Sarah Seeger, Sweden’s Matilda Söderlund, France’s Melissa Le Nevé and Austria's Johanna Ernst. Prime conditions are expected in autumn and it wouldn’t be surprising to hear more from the 21-year-old German soon.
