Laura Rogora makes 8c onsight at Oliana, Spain

After her astounding holiday at Mišja Peč in Slovenia at the start of the year — described by those in the know as the week of her life — Laura Rogora is now in Oliana, Spain, where she immediately made her mark by onsighting the 8c American Hustle.

This is the Italian's third 8c onsight, following Spanish Caravan at La Ramirole in Verdon last year and Ajo Crudo at Cicera in Spain in 2023, with which she became only the third woman to achieve this feat. The other two are Chaehyun Seo in 2022 and Janja Garnbret in 2021.

As it happens, Garnbret had become the first woman in the world to onsight 8c at Oliana, first with Fish Eye and then, two days later, with her flawless ascent of American Hustle. The very same route that Rogora has now climbed. The 23-year-old then ended her day by sending the 8c Gran Chulo. The Roman climber will remain in Spain until Saturday; certainly there's more in store.
