Juliane Wurm announces partial retirement from climbing competitions

After the retirement of the great bouldering champion Kilian Fischhuber at the end of last season, 24-year old German boulderer Juliane Wurm has now announced her retirement from the international World Cup circuit. Wurm announced her decision on Facebook earlier this week, citing the demanding nature of the circuit and the fact that she has seen all her competition dreams come true as reasons for her retirement.
Wurm retires at the apex of her career, after having recently won two of the most prestigious titles of all: the European Bouldering Championship in Innsbruck earlier this year, and the World Bouldering Championship in Munich in 2014. These successes crown nearly a decade of competitions, during which she finally found her way to victory in a World Cup stage in Innsbruck in 2013.
In truth, her retirement is only partial as she may well opt to take part in Masters or other competitions that happen to interest her. In the meantime, she will concentrate on her studies and, as she explains, on climbing outdoors.
