International Women's Day: climbing as a metaphor for equality
Aliénor Rohmer Meyer is a French press cartoonist and illustrator with a strong personal connection to the mountains. Through her drawings, she explores social and political issues with a sharp and poetic visual language. Her work has been published several times in the press and is followed by a growing audience on Instagram.
The 12 illustrations feature women climbers and use climbing as a metaphor for the ongoing pursuit of equality. Climbing is one of the rare sports where women can rival men at the highest level, yet issues of representation and inclusivity remain strong within the community.
This project was created in collaboration with the platform Every Woman is Worthy for International Women’s Rights Day. Every Woman is Worthy is a social impact brand on a mission to build a world where all women are valued. With a growing platform of over 400K women worldwide, they advocate for women daily and give back generously from their online shop to organizations that support marginalized women in need.
