Drumtime Fonzaso third ascent by Munari
On 27/02/08 Paolo Munari carried out the third ascent of Drumtime at Fonazaso, Italy.

Last Wednesday Paolo Munari redpointed Drumtime at Fonzaso, the route first ascended by Riccardo Scarian in March 2006 and repeated shortly afterwards by Luca Zardini. At the time Scarian put forward the grade 9a, while Zardini found an easier way through the crux and suggested 8c+.
Making the most of perfect conditions 26-year-old Paolo Munari managed to link the 40 move route on Wednesday, using Zardini's sequence and suggesting 8c. Grades, as everyone knows, are fickle as are crux sequences, what is important though, so Munari, is not the grade but the fact that the route is absolute first class and the hardest to date of his 50+ sends from 8a to 8c.
As Munari states: "routes are often characterised by one particular style of climbing, either technical slabs or physical overhangs, but this isn't the case of Drumtime. I therefore feel that this route is really complete since it offers both styles of climbing, linking intense power moves with technical moves. This make the route absolute first class and I'm really pleased to have climbed it."
