This summer the South Tyroleans Simon Gietl and Simon Niederbacher established Das Privileg up Piz Ciavazes in the Dolomites. The 300m route with difficulties up to 9- takes a line to the right of the famous Abramkante and is protected with trad gear, as Gietl explains:

DAS PRIVILIEG
by Simon Gietl

"Piz Ciavazes is one of the most famous climbing areas in the Sella group and many climbers are drawn to this mountain not only because of the short approach, but also the great rock and the magnificent panorama. The rock face hosts extreme classics such as the Via Micheluzzi, Via Schubert and the Abramkante... in recent years many new routes have been established and the potential for new routing is pretty much spent. There's only a handful of routes which are protected exclusively with trad means and many routes, above all the recent ones, are protected with bolts just like at the crag. Noticing an untouched line to the right of the Abramkante was a present, and it was my privilege to established Das Privileg after three days of work. A new route which, once again, offers a bit of trad in this area."
