Last week Alizée Dufraisse repeated Chikane, a slightly overhanging and highly technical 8c+ at the Can Pigui Pigui sector at Siurana in Spain. With this ascent the strong Frenchwoman brings her tally of 8c+ to four, to which one also needs to add the 8c+/9a of La Reina Mora, climbed at the same crag in 2012.
Now that she has got Chikane under her belt, it’s highly likely Dufraisse will concentrate her efforts on a project she stated a while ago, namely the historic La Rambla 9a+, first climbed by Alexander Huber to a pocket at 3/4 height and then extended to the top of the crag by Ramón Julián Puigblanque. Huber’s ascent dates back to 1994, Puigblanque added the final metres in 2003 and it would be important therefore to see the first female ascent, sooner rather than later.
