New website for Tibet

www.tibet.net, the official website of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile

Tibetan refugees now have a new means of communicating with the rest of the world: www.tibet.net, the official website of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. Created in four languages (Tibetan, English, Devnagri and Chinese), it contains information about all institutional organs such as the Parliament, Ministries, Institutes and other Offices, a news flash area about the latest developments and a large section devoted to Tibet's history, culture and environment.

Some of the most interesting sections are the welcoming message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the press releases and a section devoted to disclosing the facts from a Tibetans point of view, in stark contrast to official line taken from the Chinese government. It is for this reason that the website is created also in Chinese, in the hope that this people will be able to "hear the Tibetan side of the story, which was denied to them in China."

Included in the various news items is also the report that the Tibetan musician Nawang Khechog has received a Grammy Award nomination in the "New Age Music" category for his "In a distant place", produced together with Carlos Nakai, William Eaton and Wild Clipman.
