Can you improve a masterpiece? Certainly it is a tough game, but as it turns out, not an impossible one: after all, the bar needs to be constantly raised. That’s what we at C.A.M.P. have accomplished. We have taken the benchmark tool for ice, mixed and dry tooling, a leader on the market ever since its 2012 launch, and improved it even further.

A substantial upgrade, it still keeps the distinctive traits of the first version and enhances them for an even higher level of performance, customization and versatility. The upgrades are also a dual novelty as the parts that make up the new X-Dream are also compatible with the older version and with the new Total Dry X-Dream.

This is an extreme tool designed for dry tooling and competitions, and at long last, they will be available in shops in the coming weeks!

The adjustable and customizable grip
Like its predecessor, the new X-Dream fulfils the dream of having two ice axes in one. It still features the patented design that allows it to be switched from ice mode to dry mode with the ice mode delivering the smooth, natural swing that climbers have come to love from the X-Dream and the Dry mode that tightens the angle between the pick and handle for a more aggressive down and out pull that can be useful on overhanging dry tooling routes.

The shaping and contouring of the new grip further improves the comfort of what has largely been considered the most comfortable grip out there and allows it to adapt to different size hands more easily. The main body of the grip fits naturally to hands of any size now and the new X-Finger Evo system allows for complete customization where it engages with the index finger.

Four new picks
The new interchangeable picks also contribute to the versatility of the X-Dream. The Omni comes equipped on the new X-Dream as standard while the Ice, Harde Mixte and Total Dry 2.0 can be bought separately. A standout for its versatility, the Omni blade features a profiled geometry that guarantees excellent performance on ice and rock.

The Ice pick opens up the geometry a bit for ice and alpine terrain. The Hard Mixte pick is purpose-built for technical mixed climbing and extreme alpinism. It is made with Armox Advance ballistic steel and sports an especially aggressive design with a taper to maintain good performance on ice even though it is constructed from ballistic steel. The Total Dry 2.0 delivers unmatched strength, rigidity and durability for hard mixed climbing by using the same Armox Advance ballistic steel as the Hard Mixte pick with no taper and a shape that is designed to hang onto the most convoluted dry tooling holds.

X-Dream Total Dry: being extreme is in its nature
The Total Dry grip features an elongated design to maximize the internal space, making it easier to match hands and to reach the most distant holds. Unlike the handle on the standard X-Dream, the handle on the X-Dream Total Dry is fixed in one position that is optimized for hooks and pulls on rock and artificial holds. The X-Dream Total Dry features the same shaft as the X-Dream with the X-Grip Evo rubber making it an authentic, feisty, and time-tested climbing machine. Combined with the Total Dry 2.0 pick, it is the first mainstream production mixed tool designed for mixed competitions including UIAA sanctioned events.
