Austrian photographer Josef Stefan has won the people’s choice Award of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2026 for his photograph of a playful lynx in Ciudad Real, Spain. A 85,917 votes were cast.

The online, global voting campaign for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year people’s choice Award is now online. 24 images have been shortlisted from over 60,000 entries. Voting closes on Wednesday 18 March, the winning photograph and the four runners-up will be announced on Wednesday 25 March
