Why a campsite at Carezza al Lago?

The Nova Levante-Welschnofen local council has approved the transformation of 10000 mq of "alpine meadows and woods" to “tourist and camping area." for the develpment of a camping ground above Lake Carezza in teh Dolomites.
Lago di Carezza e Catinaccio - Dolomiti

10000 mq of "alpine meadows and woods" to be transformed into a “tourist and camping area." What stands behind this urbanistic jargon is the approval, on behalf of the Nova Levante-Welschnofen local council, to construct an enormous campsite in a hitherto untouched area of the Dolomites, a few hundred meters above one of the most splendid lakes in the entire Alps, Lake Carezza, at the foot of the Rosengarten.

Has the fate of this natural habitat already been decided? The first to believe that something can still be done are the "Friends of Carezza", who have collected over 600 signatures against these development plans. It is interesting to note that many of these come not only from the local residents, but from across the border in Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain and the USA. The response is an irrefutable sign that decisions about our future habitat are becoming ever more important. More important, we believe, than private or local interests.
