Melloblocco 2013, Anna Borella shares her personal perspective

The first things that come into the mind of smily Anna Borella about these first days of Melloblocco #10, currently taking place in Val di Mello - Val Masino.

Anna, cheeky eyed, big heart (like my biceps she'd say with her usual smile). 20-years-old, from Como, a University student, athlete in the Italian climbing Cup. She's always taken part in Melloblocco with an overwhelming enthusiasm, one that distinguishes her and everything she does.

Anna has been here right from the outset, even during these early days of rainy edition No. 10. Under the tarpaulin boulder covers Anna has always played the game, put herself to the test and above all had fun, making all her friends laugh with here verve and absolutely contagious smile.

Here are here very personal thoughts, "hot off the press" after these first 3 days of Melloblocco 2013:

"I chalk up and in the meantime someone else is already trying the problem, it's pouring and under the tarpaulin cover there's not an inch of space. Feet sink deep into the mud, but our desire to climb is too great. I put on my shoes and set off; thing's seemed too good to be true, after two moves the valley granite checked in: the first fingertip is trashed... In the meantime it continues to rain. Thousands of people pissed off with the weather, yes, this is Melloblocco!

Why do you go my friends ask? Four days in a valley full of beginners and pros, campers and people in hotels, men, many men, and women. Those ready to catch you, who knows why,  always aiming for the same part of the body. Those who smoke while cheering you on and those who smoke and do nothing other. Those ready to share advice and then look at you badly when you do two moves more than them. Those you say hello to but you can't remember where and when you met! Melloblocco is about going crazy beneath a boulder problem, only to see the Russian stroll up with a pram, not even warm up and flash it!

But then back at the camper everything changes: dinner with a headtorch, tuna, beer and heating turned up to 37°C! I've only been to 4 edition, but I hope to be here in 10 years time to re-write my thoughts about the twentieth anniversary!"
