Ski mountaineering European Cup second stage in Spain

The Italian duo Franco Nicolini and Mirko Mezzanotte win the second stage of the Ski mountaineering European Cup in Spain
Under the pretext “better late than never”, we report about the second stage of the ski mountaineering European Cup, held in Val d'Aran in the Spanish Pyrenees on 3 March.

The Italian duo Franco Nicolini and Mirko Mezzanotte took the lead from the outset to beat their closest rivals, the Swiss Heinz Blatter and Alexander Hug. The Frenchmen Stéphane Brosse and Pierre Gignoux finished the powder course, totalling 1900m height difference third, more than three minutes behind the winners

The Spanish victory and third place in Villach, Austria now put Nicolini and Mezzanotte in provisional first place. The European Cup now moves on to Karpenissi, Greece on 31 March to finish at Rutor, Italy on 14 April.
