'Sahara 100km' to start in five days

The 'Sahara 100km' race starts on 05/03/2001
Chenini, 27 February 2001.

"We've finally arrived at the desert. After three days travelling by boat and jeep we have reached Chenini, the starting point for the 'Sahara 100 km'. Red sand an palm trees meet the eye, a desert just like one imagines it to be, but this time real and extraordinary. Only the temperature is slightly lower than normal.

The competition is divided into 4 day and one night stage and will start from here in five days time.

This 3rd edition is organised by Zitoway, a company which has a solid experience in organising races of this nature. 50 competitors will be backed up by 8 jeeps, 2 lorries and 11 a staff of locals as they run through this vast desert."
