Lisa Benetti climbs Progetto 8b+ at the Covolo

Last weekend Lisa Benetti, the wife of former world Champion Dino Lagni, managed to redpoint "Progetto" 8b+ at the North Italian crag Covolo. Climbing is obviously in the DNA of this mother of two: she has won the Italian Lead Cup four times since 1995 and over the years she has continuously improved, resulting in her latest fantastic ascent. When not climbing for herself, Lisa spends time training a youth group, which has all the right makings for a rosy future!

Four years ago I managed to do all the moves but for various reasons I didn't try the route again, even if it always remained in the back of my mind. Then in may this year I set hands on it again and in truth I swayed between believing I could do it and the thinking... it was impossible! That impossible got on my nerves...
At the end of July, making best use of a cool day, I did two good attempts but failed, the boulder crux after the "rest" rejected me, just like a few months later at the start of September.
When I sent the route the rest was a bit damp... but you know, when the day comes! Progetto is a great route with moves which don't suit me much, the hardest I've ever climbed and I'm really happy. A special thanks goes to my patient belayer Mr Jobs, the so-called Alain Robert of my hometown Schio
