I would have preferred to write about Sessi for some new beautiful climb or a hard old project that had just been freed, but instead I'm writing with some sad news. Sessi has collapsed.

For all of us climbers in the Turin area, Sessi was one of the most popular winter crags, thanks in part due to the addition of a flurry of new routes in recent years. The rock was certainly one of the best, if not the best, in the entire valley and I don't think any climber ever noticed any sign of potential rockfall.

It is important to spread the news in order so that non-locals know about the crags's recent demise, especially since Sessi was included in the new Val Susa guidebook by Versante Sud and attracted climbers from outside the region. Given the current conditions, I recommend staying clear of this area.

We don't really understand how something like this could have happened. The rockfall is reminiscent of what happened at Pal Piccolo not long ago.
