The IFSC Speed World Cup was won by France’s Anouck Jaubert and Czech climber Libor Hroza who, in his race to win gold, set a new world record stopping the clock after 5.73 seconds. Alessandro Santoni from nearby Riva del Garda finishes third.

The sun shines onto the Climbing Stadium and its Speed track 15 vertical metres to be climbed at the speed of light: a spectacular display of speed and coordination applied to climbing. Anna Tsyganova (RUS) controls with ease Nina Lach (AUT) while Yuliya Levochkin breaks away from Alexandra Elmer (AUT). They are joined in the quarter-finals by Yana Lugovenko (UKR), Anouck Jaubert (FRA) and Monika Prokopiuk (POL) who eliminate Aleksandra Rudzinska (POL), Svetlana Motovilova (RUS) and the veteran of a thousand previous battles, Edyta Ropek (POL).
