Les Drus Triple Couloir in snowboard per Julien Herry e Laurent Bibollet

Settimana scorsa Julien Herry e Laurent Bibollet hanno scovato una nuova linea sulla parete ovest della montagna di casa, l'Aiguille du Dru sopra Chamonix. Herry, 32enne guida alpina ed uno dei più esperti della nuova generazione di snowboarder di Chamonix, aveva individuato una possibile linea tra tre couloir alcuni anni fa, ma non l’aveva mai tentata per via dell’esposizione verso ovest e per il fatto che i collegamenti tra un couloir e l’altro erano sconosciuti.

Martedì scorso i due sono partiti per dare un’occhiata e hanno trovato una neve molto migliore del previsto. In salita però la rampa d’uscita del primo couloir era troppo povera di neve, costringendoli a salire due tiri di 30 metri su "terreno di misto tranquillo ma comunque un po’ esposto." Il secondo couloir è risultato più semplice ed il terzo, immediatamente sotto l’imponente parete ovest, si è rivelato più facile di quanto previsto.

Racconta Herry "Il nostro piccolo colle/cima a circa 3100 metri ci ha offerto il panorama migliore che io abbia mai visto dell'enorme parete ovest! Il sole ci stava mettendo troppo ad uscire quindi siamo scesi per il couloir alto all’ombra su neve dura, poi ci siamo goduti il resto con il sole e nella neve fresca! Un’ora più tardi abbiamo acceso le nostre lampadine frontali per le ultime curve nella polvere del bosco per tornare a casa… Sicuramente una delle linea più belle che ho avuto la possibilità di scendere nelle montagne di casa."

La linea si chiama Triple Couloir, inizia a quota 3100 metri e termina a 2500 metri. 600 metri di discesa attorno a 40° nel cuore del Drus con punte di 50° max, due tiri in salita di M2/M3, e due calata da 30 metri in discesa. I primi 100 metri nel couloir più basso sono in comune con L'allumette (Vivian Bruchez), mentre il Couloir à Jess si trova leggermente più a destra.

22/01/2019 Flammes de Pierre «Triple couloir» 600m 2x30m rappel First descent with Laurent Bibollet I first saw this line a few years ago but never gave it a try, too scared to find icy snow due to its West orientation. The 2 parts linking the 3 couloirs together were still full of unknown as well! On Tuesday we decided to go and have a look, at least to understand the line better. Snow was much better than expected but the exit ramp of the 1st couloir was too dry so we had to climb 2x30m of mellow but a bit exposed mixte terrain... The second couloir was ours then, we just had to climb in between snow accumulations. Luckily the access to the 3rd couloir was much easier than hoped and climbing that last bit toward Les Drus was amazing. Our little pass/summit around 3100m offered the best view I ever had on that huge West face! Sun was too long to come out so we rode the top couloir in the shade on firm snow and then enjoyed the rest of the run with sun and pow! An hour later we were switching headlamps on for the last powder turns in the forest on our way back to my home... Definitely one the most beautiful lines I had the chance to ride in my backyard! @powfrance #protectourwinters #protectourplayground #becreative
