Route

Appassionata is to be considered a direct start to Loss lei heb schun, the route established in 2003 by Renato Botte and Helmut Gargitter. Appassionata follows an obvious section through the overhanging wall that had remained untouched until now – one of the last obvious lines in this sector of the face and adds 3.5 pitches before joining the 2003 line.

The route provides sustained climbing on compact, predominantly overhanging rock. Technically demanding but always logical.

Getting there

Take the motorway A22 to Bressanone, then continue along the SS49 through the Val Pusteria to S.Lorenzo. Continue along the SS244 through the Val Badia to Corvara. Alternatively, take the motorway A22 to Chiusa and continue along the SS242 up the Val Gardena to Passo Gardena and down to Corvara. At Corvara follow signs for La Villa - Pedraces. At Pedraces take the chairlift on the right to the refuge and church Santa Croce, from where the path leads off to the base of the routes.

Access

Descend via the Gabloner Route with three abseils. A wide ledge and an easy traverse lead to the start of the climb.
