Route

Ben Gassa was first ascended by the Austrian Mountain Guides Isidor Poppeller and Vittorio Messini on 16/11/2012 with difficulties up to M5/M6, WI5, following a gully and line 50m to the right of Hauptgully.
Access
The approach (circa 1 - 1.5 hours) starts from the north exit of the Felbertauerntunnel. From here ascend either to the left or to the right of the tunnel exit. Descent
Descend to Schoppmanntörl and walk on down to the car, or descend towards St. Pöltner Hütte and then follow the road to reach the south tunnel entrance. In both cases calculate circa 2 - 2.5 hours. Notes
Even if these routes don't climb extreme difficulties, both require carefully snow pack assessment, as the NW Face is prone to avalanches. Autumn is therefore the best time of year for these routes.
