Route

A “classic” addition that climbs the arête to the left of Diedro Dallago, up good quality rock. 18 pegs were placed on the first ascent, and the difficulties, apart from the third crux pitch, are in the region of UIAA grade 4-5. Take a set of nuts, friends and kevlar cords.

Getting there

Approach the Cima Cason di Formin by driving towards Passo Giau from Cortina and parking the car in Rucurto.

Access

Take the signposted path no. 437 to the rifugio Palmieri and turn off at the fork with the no. 435 for the Val Formin. Continue until this levels out beneath the wall, and then scramble up the scree towards the crack and chimney, beneath the large Diedro Dallago corner. Start to the left of the corner.

Descent

From the summit downclimb the East face to reach the large ledge. Follow this left, all around “Cason de Formin” to then continue down the grass slopes to a gully. Descend this and then continue easily to the start of the route.

Sì, bella via. Linea logica, roccia quasi sempre ottima, bei passaggi, difficoltà sostenute, ma sempre umane (non cortinesi... ;-p). Tutte le soste presenti, più qualche chiodo di passaggio, friends e stopper necessari. Dubito che le nostre siano state tra le prime ripetizioni, dato che la via è presente, oltre che su questo sito, anche nella guida di Bernardi, molto diffusa, sia in italiano sia in tedesco. Evidentemente se non è diventata 'na ciodèra è perchè si protegge bene con protezioni veloci. Sulla stessa parete belle anche la Da Pozzo, l'Alverà-Menardi e la classicissima Dallago.

Bella via molto elegante e logica, incredibile trovare una linea così nel 2000 nelle Dolomiti ampezzane. Penso di avere fatto una tra le prime ripetizioni. Mia morosa non condivide il mio enutsiasmo per questa via!!Bravi gli apritori
