Route

Beauty Knows No Fear on Monte Robon features an incredible sequence of pockets and tiny edges on superb rock and boasts an impressive continuity. It was established ground-up in July 1997 using 8mm stainless steel bolts and without any trad gear. In July 2025, the first ascentionists rebolted the route with 10mm stainless steel bolts, placing them in the original positions and adding only one new bolt at the start of the 4th pitch to prevent dangerous falls onto the belay.

Getting there

From Sella Nevea (Chiusaforte) park at the start of the path CAI n. 637. Follow this for 1:30 hours to reach the base of the face.

Access

Reach the base of the wall, leave the trail and traverse leftwards across its foot over grass and scree (approx. 200m) to reach the distinct grassy ramp that cuts diagonally across the face from left to right. Rope up and scramble up this (no fixed protection) for about 40m, taking care on loose sections, to reach the belay ledge with mountain pine (anchor bolt).

Descent

Abseil down the route

Gear

One 70m rope or two half ropes, 10 quickdraws

Notes

It should be noted that some who repeated the route found our proposed grades rather stiff; following their advice, we have therefore decided to add upgrade the last two pitches by half a grade.
