Route

The summit of the highest mountain the Tyrol offers splendid 360 degree views.
Getting there
Start: Vent, Ötztal, 1870 m Itinerary
We suggest you start by taking the Wildspitze chairlift up to 2350m. From here continue along the path into the Rofen valley, with splendid views onto the Rofen basin. Continue along the path to reach the Refuge Breslauer Hütte. From the hut proceed via the higher path to reach a central basin and then the Mitterkar glacier. The path continues at the back of the glacier and turns up right, past a steep gully, to reach the Mittelkarjoch. Now descend past a crepaccio laterale and keep right past a series of crevasse to reach the southern ridge. Walk up this, scrambling past some rocky sections, to reach the Wildspitze summit. The view on clear days is splendid. Descent: return to the Mitterkarjoch, traverse across the gully and head down to the Mittelkar and the Breslauerhütte. Gear
Normal mountaineering gear. Take ice axe, crampons and rope for the glacier crossing. Notes
