Jalovec
Jalovec's NE gully and the nearby Kotovo Sedlo are two of the most popular itineraries in the Slovenian Alps. The ascent follows a wide valley to then continue up a steep and narrow gully beneath high rocky walls.
From Ratece turn off right for Val Planica. Drive up this to the Tamar refuge (altitude: 1108m). Depending on snow conditions, you may find it necessary to park the car lower down.
ItineraryFrom the Tamar refuge take the path north for about 30 minutes to the edge of the forest. Continue along the righthand side of the valley beneath impressive rocky walls, to then ascend up the center of Val Tamar when the slope angle steepens. Reach the obvious NE gully (continuing righ leads to Kotovo Sedlo) and continue on foot up this steep and narrow gully to the small col at 2330m. The slope opens up here and, although somewhat steeper, leads quickly to a final col where this itinerary ends. The normal ascent route to the summit of Jalovec leads off right from here.
DescentDescend along the line of ascent.
