Route

Goodbye 1999 is located on the wall to the left of the Pilastro della Tofana, on the same face as Compagni di merenda, sharing its excellent rock quality. With continuous and sustained difficulty throughout, the route is equipped with bolts and some pitons. However, the alpine commitment required should not be underestimated. The belays are excellently equipped and allow for abseiling down the line of ascent.

Getting there

From Cortina, drive towards the Falzarego Pass, passing the hamlet of Pocol; after a few hairpin bends, reach the junction on the right (signposted), where the narrow road begins that ascends up to the Dibona hut, at the foot of Tofana di Rozes.

Access

Follow the path that leads below the Pilastro della Tofana and, skirting its base, pass the Spigolo del Pilastro. The route climbs the wall to the left of the latter (allow about half an hour for the approach).

Itinerary

Descent

Abseil down the route

Gear

2 x 55m ropes, 10 quickdraws, a set of small and mid sized cams, kevlar threads.

Notes

The route was established ground-up and, as with all Da Pozzo climbs, should not be underestimated.

Bella via sportiva, sulla bellissima roccia della Tofana. Chiodatura ariosa ma mai pericolosa a parte la partenza del tiro chiave. Il 7a+ è 7a, e il 7b max 7a+
