Fomo - Col di Specie - Geierwand
Fomo on the Hintere Geierwand follows a distinct crack through surprisingly solid rock. The climbing is consistently overhanging and varies between crimps, pockets and cracks, requiring both good technique and a fair amount of stamina.
Protection consists mainly of nuts and friends; we placed and left five pegs on the pitches, and five belay pegs. The final 20 metres, due to the more crumbly rock, require greater care and are more difficult to protect. The last two pitches can be climbed without difficulty as a single pitch.
The new route complements the existing Don’t worry be happy by Senfter & Moser (2006), offering an interesting alternative for those seeking an ‘alpine’ experience.
From Cortina, take the main road towards Toblach / Dobbiaco. Park the car at the start of the Lake Landro car park.
AccessFrom the Geierwand crag, scramble up viaa the right-hand gully to the start of the route (approx. 1 hour 15 minutes).
