Route

Parete di Solada is a beautiful face which contains just one other climb, on the left, called Il teorema di Solà, put up by Glauco Cugini and Christian Ferrari in 2001. Cani sciolti follows a logical line past the points of weakness and some of the most compact sections of the face. The climb was first ascended using a modern approach of bolts and pegs, with long sections that need protecting with trad gear. As such the route shouldn’t be underestimated and should be considered a full alpine outing, also due to the terrain which contains some loose rock. Although the pitches have been graded the first free ascent is still outstanding. Overall this is a demanding route, in an isolated setting which, despite it’s relatively short height, proves satisfying.

Getting there
Reach Val Maggia, in Ticino. After Maggia continue towards Lodano, then Scaleta and finally Ronchi. Park close to the fountain.
