Adventure Awards Days 2015 at Livigno

From the 27th of July to the 2nd of August 2015 Livigno will host the Adventure Awards Days, the international festival dedicated to adventure and exploration. Events are dedicated to running, trekking, yoga, mtb, photo and storytelling workshops and the first edition of BAM!, the European meeting of bicycle travelers and adventurers. Matteo Della Bordella wins Grignetta d'Oro 2015

On Friday, May 22 at Lecco the Grignetta d'Oro 2015 was awarded to Matteo Della Bordella while Ivo Ferrari and Romano Benet received special mentions. The other alpinists in the running for the Italian mountaineering award were Hervé Barmasse, Simon Gietl, Tamara Lunger, Corrado Pesce, Francesco Salvaterra and Luca Schiera.

Grignetta d'Oro: the 7 Italian finalists

The names have been revealed of the seven mountaineers in the running for the Grignetta d’Oro, the Italian mountaineering award that will be celebrated on Friday 22 May at Lecco. Nepal earthquake death toll continues to rise, Everest disaster area

The death toll continues to rise in the aftermath of the earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday and passes 3200, with more than 6000 people injured. The avalanche that struck Everest base camp is said to have caused at least 18 deaths. Four Italian speleologists are feared missing from the village of Langtang; Giuseppe Pino Antonini, Gigliola Mancinelli, Oskar Piazza and Giovanni Pizzorni.

Nepal earthquake: Oskar Piazza, Gigliola Mancinelli, Renzo Benedetti and Marco Pojer perish

The news was made official a few hours ago: the well-known Italian mountain guide and member of the mountain rescue service Oskar Piazza and Dr. Gigliola Mancinelli perished beneath an avalanche triggered by the earthquake that destroyed the village of Langtang in northern Nepal. The other two expedition members Giovanni Pizzorini and Pino Antonini have survived. Four Italians died as a result of Saturday’s earthquake; the well-known mountaineer Renzo Benedetti and Marco Pojer were buried by an avalanche in the Rolwaling Valley. In the meantime Nepal is enduring days of extreme difficulty.
