Broad Peak success for Moro, Ochoa, Lafaille, Viesturs
On 15/07/2003 Simone Moro, Inaki Ochoa, Jean-Christophe Lafaille, Ed Viesturs of the International Pakistan Expedition 2003 reached the summit of Broad Peak (8047m).

 On 15 July the Italian Simone Moro and the Spaniard Inaki Ochoa reached the main summit of Broad Peak (8047m). The two started from 6200 meters at 22.35 and, without stopping at either Camps 3 and 4, reached the summit at 11.00 Pakistan time. Both mountaineers are now safely back in Base Camp after what Moro describes as a "fast and clean ascent". Ed Viesturs, J.C. Lafaille and three Kazakh mountaineers also reached the summit of Broad Peak on July 15 . During the descent Lafaille encountered breathing difficulties but, with the help of Denis Urubko and Ed Viesturs, managed to return to Base Camp. Broad Peak is Viesturs's 13th 8000 meter peak, with only Annapurna missing from the famous fourteen. Moro, Ochoa and the other eight Kazakh mountaineers from the International Pakistan Expedition now have their sights firmly set on K2, the third and final goal for 2003. As many will remeber, the triology commenced last month with the mass ascent of Naga Parbat at the hands of Denis Urubko, Dima Chumakov, Maksut Jumaiev, Vassilly Pitsov Alexey Raspopov, Serguey Lavrov, Vassiliy Litvinov, Serguey Bogomolov, Ed Viesturs and JC Lafaille.
