With registration now online for Rock Junior 2012 - the world's biggest youth climbing festival scheduled to take place in Arco on 25 and 26 August - the countdown has officially begun for the all-new Rock Master Festival. This 9-day event will be held in the small Italian town from 25 August to 2 September 2012 and it promises to be one of the world's most important new climbing meeting. The Festival kicks off with the Rock Junior event and its hordes of young climbers, and the week that follows will be animated by two other moments which have made their way into the history of sports climbing: Rock Master - the competition for champions which celebrates its 26th edition - and the 7th Arco Rock Legends, the sport climbing Oscar. But there is more: the Rock Master Festival is also shows, meetings, music, partying and everything that revolves around the outdoors.
But let's take things one step at a time, let's being with Rock Junior. Once again the event promises great climbing and fun for everyone with its formula which for 11 years has attracted young climbers and their parents to this town in Italy's' Trentino. As usual three events are the driving force: Kid's Rock (the competition/game for all youngsters aged 5 13. A), Family Rock (the exciting vertical relay race for children and their parents) and Rock Junior Under 14 Cup (the international competition for young athletes and their national teams).
This weekend dedicated to youth climbing will obviously be held in the legendary Climbing Stadium which during the 9 Rock Master Festival days will become the focal point for all great sport events. While, just a stone's throw away, the heart of the event will beat at the special Climbing Village, a real village and meeting point for all climbers and outdoor enthusiasts that will offer a program which includes shows, films, music, meetings and also outdoor experiences. These provide the opportunity to climb on the thousand crags dotted around Arco, discover the paths and via ferrata in the Garda region and test the best climbing and outdoor gear together with Mountain Guides and company designers.
But let's return to Rock Junior: the usual festive crowd of young climbers (more than 600) are expected together with their parents. Hurry up and register online immediately. It's bound to be fun!
