Climbing World Championship 2011 and Rock Master 2010 online
The official website of the IFSC Climbing World Championship 2011 in Arco is now online. The portal also hosts all the information about the next edition of the classic Rock Master competition which has been brought forward to July 2010 as a World Championship pre-event.
As everyone knows, the next sport climbing World Championship will be held in Arco, the small Italian town on the northern shores of Lake Garda. The town also happens to be the cradle of modern sport climbing competitions and the online reference point for this world-class event is the new website www.arco2011.it. The site will include not only include live updates in 2011, but will also follow the Rock Master 2010 competition which won't take place as tradition has it in September but instead from 16 -18 July as a dress rehearsal for the 2011 World Championship.
The 2010 Rock Master promises to be something quite special. The most important novelty is that the competition is not by invitation only, but Open, enabling all national teams to send their best athletes in preparation for the great challenge in a years time. Circa 200 athletes are expected to compete in Lead, Boulder, Speed, Duel and, absolute novelty, the Team Speed, the new frontier which will see teams sprinting upwards in a vertical relay race. And of course there will also be, during this Rock Master Pre-Event World Championship, the fifth edition of the Arco Rock Legends, the sport climbing Oscars.
Check out www.arco2011.it for videos and photos which recount the history of the Rock Master and climbing at Arco, as well as the list of all World Champions starting from that first edition in Frankfurt in 1991, and much much more.
