Shauna Coxsey, Keita Watabe, Iuliia Kaplina, Reza Alipourshenazandifar win Nanjing stage of Boulder & Speed World Cup

Nanjing in China hosted the third stage of the Boulder World Cup 2017 on 28 and 29 April, won by Britain's Shauna Coxsey and Japan's Keita Watabe. The second stage of the Speed World Cup was won by Russia’s Iuliia Kaplina and Iran’s Reza Alipourshenazandifar. Both athletes managed to set new world records.

Arco Rock Star: Giovanni Danieli wins the 2017 photo contest

The second edition of Arco Rock Star, the photography competition that takes place annually during the Adventure Awards Days Festival, was won on Sunday 23 April by pro photographer Giovanni Danieli. Alex Buisse took second place while Federico Ravassard took third. The Open category was won by Graziano Galvagni.

The second stage of the Bouldering World Cup 2017 took place at Chongqing in China on 22 and 23 April, as did the first stage of the Speed World Cup. Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret and South Korea’s Jongwon Chon won the Boulder, while the Russians Iuliia Kaplina and Vladislav Deulin won the Speed.

Adam Ondra repeats Lapsus at Andonno, second 9b in two days

Czech climber Adam Ondra has made the first repeat of Lapsus, the 9b sport climb freed by Stefano Ghisolfi at Andonno, Italy. This is Ondra’s second 9b in just two days, after his first ascent of Queen Line at Laghel (Arco). Ondra ended the day in style by making a second-go redpoint of a 9a at the crag Castelbianco.

Matterhorn North Face / Alexander Huber, Dani Arnold, Thomas Senf forge new climb

Mountaineering on the Matterhorn: from 15 - 16 March Alexander Huber from Germany and Switzerland’s Dani Arnold and Thomas Senf climbed a new route up the legendary North Face of one of the symbols of the Alps. The new climb is called Schweizernase and shares the start of the Gogna-Cerruti route before continuing directly up through the enormous overhangs on the upper section of the face.
