Adam Ondra and Stefano Ghisolfi free Magic Line at Gramitico 2018

Mythical Gramitico! While waiting for the complete report of the bouldering meeting in Valle di Daone, about the superb, relaxed, fun and at times even moving evening with Adam Ondra and Stefano Ghisolfi conducted by Simone Raina, here’s one of Sunday’s most important climbing moments: the first ascent of Magic Line 18.

Ghisolfi and Ondra worked the highball in the late morning and then climbed it, one followed immediately by the other, in the early afternoon when the sun left the boulder and the shade provided perfect friction on the valley’s smooth granite. While the 8A+ grade is a detail, the real magic - difficult to put into words - was the excitement and joy everyone had who took part in Gramitico.
