Tour du Rutor 2014: Eydallin & Lenzi and Roux & Mathys victorious

The Tour du Rutor Extrême 2014 took place from 28 - 30 March in Valle d'Aosta, Italy and was won by the Italians Matteo Eydallin & Damiano Lenzi, and by the French - Swiss team Laetitia Roux & Maude Mathy.

Great organization, breathtaking landscape, wonderful tracks, well-trained athletes: those were some of the most important elements that characterized this edition of the Millet Tour du Rutor Extrême and elevated it to one of the most important events of the ski mountaineering in the world. More than 300 senior teams and about 25 junior and cadets teams participated, with people coming from 18 different nations.

To impose themselves on the others were Matteo Eydallin and Damiano Renzi showing to be in great shape. This final leg saw this team as the absolute protagonists on Château Blanc Glacier. They took the lead at 3320mt on Punta Flambeau, detached the others on Mont Château Blanc (3422 mt) and were the first to cross the finishing line after the long descent toward Planaval.

Second place today and third place on the final rank for the French team composed of Valentine Favre - Xavier Gachet who demonstrated to be really fast in the descents. Good performance also for Lorenzo Holzknecht - Manfred Reichegger who conquered the third place today and the fourth on the final rank.

On the women side to win this leg and the overall competition were Laetitia Roux - Mathys Maude, followed by Laura Besseghini - Francesca Martinelli. Third place today for Mireia Mirò e Marta Riba, who were fourth after the three stages of TDR leaving the third final place to Jennifer Fiechter - Axelle Mollaret.

Juniors and cadets had to face a breathtaking track. In the Junior category Federico Nicolini - Oriol Col Cardona won for the third time in three days winning the competition.  Simon Bellabouvier - Paul Chavanes got second today (third on the final rank) and William Perrier - Samuel Equy were third (second at the end of the three days).
In the female junior category Sophie Mollard - Adèle Milloz confirmed themselves as the leader of the TDR 2014 before Giorgia Dalla Zanna - Hélène Vicari Joelle and Natalia Mastrota - Laura Balet Caixach.
In the cadets category, Gabriele Leonardi - Enrico Loss won this leg and the overall rank of TDR 2014 before Nicola Bertocchi - Daniele Carrobbio (who today got third on the finishing line) and Michele Cazzanelli - Matteo Gottardelli (who today arrived fifth). Loic Brouet - Robin Gaydon today conquered the second place.

Matteo Eydallin:
"Now we can finally rest. It was difficult, but winning Pierra Menta and Tour du Rutor in a raw is a great satisfaction. I am always very happy to do this competition because this is real ski mountaineering: technical tracks and spectacular landscapes."
Laetitia Roux: "I am tired but happy. TDR is always great. Awesome organization, tracks and people".
Marco Camandona (race director):
"Millet Tour du Rutor Extrême is the competition of great numbers. We demonstrated that we can do it and now we have to look to the future being aware of our potential. I am satisfied of this successful event. It is awesome to see several athletes who thanked us for what we have accomplished. It thrilled me. I want to thank all the volunteers, the real beating heart of TDR. A thank also goes to the public institutions and private sponsors for the help they gave us. Thanks and see you again in 2016".
