Last Minute Update: Christian Maurer is only 13 km away from the finish but it’s not over yet. Despite his injured knee and the lack of wind during the first part of the day, the Swissman continued to push on to Colle Tenda at 1,889 m where he launched just before 17:00. His goal was the last turnpoint at Peille, from where an easy descent awaited down to the raft in the sea off the Principality of Monaco. This would have sealed his fifth consecutive victory, but Maurer landed too far east and has now pulled the Night Pass to continue walking through the night.

At this point it’s pretty clear that the Swissman will win the race, as all other athletes are too far behind. It’s worth noting that as soon as the 34-year-old crosses the finish line, the others have 24 hours to complete their race. Meanwhile, the struggle for the second and third place continues, and all the top 4 have pulled their night pass to optimise their chances.
